Cost Accountant

Nter Talent is supporting a manufacturing business with the hire of a Cost Accountant to play a key role in supporting plant-level financial performance. This position will be responsible for costing, monthly close, forecasting, inventory valuation, and internal controls, while partnering closely with operations to help achieve financial and operational goals.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong manufacturing mindset and experience working in SAP-driven environments.

• Support and comply with all company safety policies and procedures
• Ensure accounting procedures and financial systems are properly configured and maintained
• Apply core accounting principles including debits, credits, accruals, and product allocations
• Own and manage the monthly close process
• Prepare and report Balance Sheet, P&L, and Cash Flow statements
• Analyze budget and medium-term plan (MTP) variances and prepare monthly financial reports, including KPI reporting and actionable recommendations
• Perform periodic comparisons between SAP moving average and planned purchase prices, including inventory revaluations
• Develop and maintain standard costs for all products, including annual updates and new product costing
• Analyze activity rates, work centre rates, efficiencies, and production routings
• Conduct variance analysis between actual and planned production costs
• Participate in rolling forecasts and annual planning cycles using a bottom-up approach
• Lead or support cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain housekeeping and organizational standards within the finance function

• Supervise and support the Assistant Controller
• Contribute to cross-functional collaboration across operations, supply chain, and leadership teams

• 3+ years of relevant experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to work with complex data
• Proven ability to collaborate, communicate, and influence across all levels of the business
• Project management experience and ability to support or lead improvement initiatives
• Strong interest in and understanding of manufacturing processes

• SAP experience required, particularly within FI, MM, and CO modules
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel (complex formulas, large data sets) and presentation development
