The CASY Early Learning Center Director provides strategic and operational leadership for a private nonprofit early learning center dedicated to serving children and families in the Terre Haute community. This role ensures high-quality early childhood education while upholding the organization’s mission, values, and commitment to equity, access, and family engagement. The Director is responsible for program excellence, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, staff leadership, and community partnerships.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in early childhood education, including leadership or administrative responsibility
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a closely related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • Must meet all Indiana Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning (OECOSL) licensing requirements
  • Knowledge of Indiana Paths to QUALITY standards strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of early learning accreditation standards and INAEYC accreditation standards
  • Knowledge of Child Care Management Systems, scheduling platforms, and digital documentation systems
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Ability to pass all required state and federal background checks
Key Responsibilities Program & Compliance Leadership
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local licensing, health, and safety regulations
  • Maintain or advance the center’s Paths to QUALITY rating
  • Oversee developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and culturally responsive curriculum
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate teaching and support staff
  • Support ongoing professional development and staff retention
  • Manage center operations, budgets, enrollment, and staffing to ensure fiscal sustainability
  • Oversee tuition assistance, CCDF, grants, and other funding sources as applicable
  • Ensure responsible use of nonprofit resources and accurate record-keeping
Family & Community Engagement
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families through open communication and supportli>
  • Serve as a representative of the center within the Terre Haute community
Nonprofit & Mission Alignment
  • Collaborate with organizational leadership and/or Board of Directors
  • Collaborate with other CASY programs and staff as needed
  • Support data collection, reporting, and outcomes related to grants and funding
  • Promote the center’s mission, values, and commitment to quality early learning
  • Mission-driven leadership with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of early childhood education best practices and nonprofit operations
  • Financial management and budgeting experience
  • Strong communication skills with staff, families, funders, and community partners
  • Ability to lead in a collaborative, resource-conscious environment
