We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Emergency/ICU department at Ksyen Regional Hospital.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as well as within a patient and family centered care model.

The Registered Nurse - Emergency, working collaboratively with the interprofessional team, plans and provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care to clients with various complex health care issues, from non-urgent to life threatening, to patients in the Emergency department. The Registered Nurse demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.

The Registered Nurse - ICU, working collaboratively with the interprofessional team, plans and provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care to clients with various complex health care issues. The Registered Nurse demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.

The Northern Health Regional Emergency Department Education Program (NHREDEP) utilizes a standardized, evidence informed on-line curriculum offered by Elsevier, called Emergency Nursing Orientation (ENO). REDEP combines Elsevier's ENO online curriculum with a skills/simulation lab and clinical practicum to prepare registered nurses to provide safe and competent emergency nursing care, at a novice level. Once completed the REDEP program learners will have 3-4 months to consolidate their emergency skills before moving onto NHCCP.

The Northern Health Critical Care Program (NHCCP)- NHCCP combines evidence-informed online curriculum (American Association of Critical-Care Nurses
- Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO)) with in-person skills/simulation and clinical practicums to prepare Registered Nurses to provide safe novice level critical care nursing, introducing the topics, concepts, skills, and competencies that are fundamental to beginning a career in the Intensive Care Unit.

• Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as required
• Successful candidates may be required complete pre-requisite courses through part-time distance education, on their own time, prior to assuming this position Learners should expect to make a 11-12 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learning
• Additional study time, outside of scheduled hours, will be required to successfully complete the program
• Must have completed Heart and Stroke BLS in the last 6 months
• Flexibility for practicums is necessary
• Prior experience on an acute care ward (i.e. medical/surgical) preferred
• Current BLS certification within a year is mandatory prior to the skills/simulation
• Preference for participants who have completed an electrocardiogram (ECG) course prior to beginning REDEP. Applicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the department
• Upon successful completion of the education program, Northern Health requires an eighteen (18) month return of service in a regular position in the area of nursing applicable to the education program.
• Qualified applicants will be considered first for specialty positions. If there are no qualified applicants, training lines will be awarded to unqualified applicants and training will be provided

Registered Nurse - ER

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing RN registrant.
• Completion of a recognized Emergency Nursing specialty program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
