Pay: $45,000 - $50,000 / year

Schedule:

Monday - Friday (with weekend hours on rotation)

Youth Opportunity is a nationally recognized leader in residential and behavioral health treatment for at-risk youth. Roane Youth Academy in Harriman, Tennessee, is a residential Youth Academy providing trauma-informed care for youth with behavioral health and emotional needs. The program combines clinical mental health services with structured education, enrichment therapies, recreation, and skill-building programming designed to support long-term success.

Youth participate in individual, family, and group therapy, treatment planning, life skills development, and therapeutic activities that promote accountability, emotional growth, and successful reintegration into the community. Services are delivered within a structured residential setting where youth work closely with clinicians, educators, and support staff to build the tools needed for long-term stability.

About the Role

As the Clinical Assistant, you will support the clinical department by coordinating case documentation, assisting with admissions and treatment planning processes, and facilitating communication between youth, families, and treatment teams. This role plays an important part in maintaining organized case records, scheduling treatment meetings, and supporting the overall delivery of clinical services within the residential program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate intake assignments, review referrals, and prepare youth files for admission
  • Assist with completion of clinical intake packets and admission documentation
  • Maintain youth case files and monitor documentation for compliance
  • Schedule treatment team meetings and Child & Family Team meetings
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, court hearings, and related meetings as assigned
  • Send treatment team invitations, progress reports, and monthly summaries
  • Coordinate youth home pass paperwork and related documentation
  • Assist with scheduling youth phone calls and coordinating visitation
  • Maintain and distribute program rosters and reports
  • Communicate youth needs with interdisciplinary teams including medical, transportation, and dietary staff
  • Assist with referrals, service coordination, and community resource linkage for youth and families
Other Duties Include
  • Maintain a high standard of professional role model behavior for youth
  • Participate in required trainings and professional development activities
  • Report incidents involving youth safety or inappropriate interactions according to facility policy
  • Report use of physical force and unusual incidents in accordance with program guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in behavioral sciences or a related field
Preferred
  • Two years of experience working with youth with serious emotional disturbances or substance abuse issues
  • Experience with group work techniques and therapeutic programming
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain organized records and manage administrative responsibilities
Physical Demands
  • Must be in good physical health and emotionally stable
  • Able to actively engage with youth, participate in physical interventions, and transport youth or staff as needed
  • Must be free of communicable diseases as defined by the state
  • Must pass evaluation of physical techniques and certification exams
Other Requirements
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Must meet state criminal background check requirements
  • Ability to occasionally work irregular hours as needed
