The Construction Rigger is responsible for preparing, moving, and setting up heavy equipment, materials, and structures on construction sites. This role ensures all rigging operations are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements. The Construction Rigger works closely with crane operators, foremen, and other crew members to execute lifts and moves.
** Key Responsibilities*
* + Inspect and select rigging equipment such as chains, slings, shackles, and hoists to ensure safety and proper function.
+ Set up and dismantle rigging for construction lifts and heavy equipment moves.
+ Signal crane and equipment operators to ensure safe, precise movement of loads.
+ Secure loads using ropes, chains, cables, or slings in accordance with lift plans.
+ Read and interpret load charts, blueprints, and lift plans.
+ Conduct pre-lift safety checks and ensure rigging activities comply with OSHA and company safety standards.
+ Identify and mitigate potential hazards before and during rigging operations.
+ Maintain tools, rigging gear, and equipment in safe working condition.
+ Assist in positioning, aligning, and securing heavy materials and structures.
+ Work closely with supervisors, operators, and other trades to coordinate lifts and ensure smooth operations.

** Qualifications*
* + High school diploma or equivalent; additional rigging or trade certifications preferred.
+ 3+ years of rigging experience in construction, industrial, or heavy equipment settings.
+ Proven knowledge of rigging practices, hand signals, and crane operations.
+ Ability to calculate load weights, center of gravity, and safe lifting angles.
+ Strong understanding of OSHA, NCCCO, and industry safety standards.
+ Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.
+ Preferred Certifications (if applicable)
NCCCO Rigger Certification (Level I or II)
OSHA 10 or 30 Construction Safety Certification
** Physical Demands*
* The physical demands described below are representative of those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role on a construction site. This role requires significant physical exertion, including the ability to navigate active construction areas with uneven terrain, temporary and permanent stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and personnel hoists. Constant standing, walking, and performing repetitive physical tasks are required daily.
The employee must frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing over 50 pounds with assistance or team lifting techniques. This position requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching (above and below shoulder level). The employee must possess sufficient physical dexterity and balance to work safely at various heights and in confined spaces.
Visual acuity (including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus) is essential for tasks such as reading instructions, operating equipment, and ensuring safety. Adequate hearing (with or without assistive devices) is required to understand instructions and warnings in a noisy environment.
** Work Environment*
* The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee encounter while performing the essential functions of this role at a Clark Construction site. The employee will regularly work outdoors and may be exposed to varying and potentially extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow. The work environment frequently involves exposure to moving mechanical equipment, high noise levels, dust, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, and potential electrical hazards.
