Shop Technician - Sweetwater, TN

Xylem Tree Experts is hiring for a skilled Shop Technician in Sweetwater, TN. The Shop Tech maintains and repairs vehicles, troubleshooting issues and fixing them to maximize reliability and functionality, helping around the yard and driving a truck part of the time. Candidates should have at least one year of experience and a valid driver’s license. Diesel Mechanic certifications are preferred.

This is a full-time position that offers health insurance benefits for medical, vision, and dental, as well as the option for enrollment in a 401(k). The pay range is $18–$28 an hour. We also offer career growth opportunities including learning new roles and promotions.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
  • Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade
  • Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts, etc.) to maintain vehicle functionality and longevity
  • Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise motorists on good vehicle use
  • Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g., leaks)
  • Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job
  • Keep logs on work and issues
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good condition
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as auto mechanic
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles
  • Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
  • Ability to handle various tools (e.g., pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g., lift)
  • Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protection against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals, etc.
  • Excellent physical condition
  • High school diploma preferred; certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship preferred

Position requires employee to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.

Must meet I-9 requirements.
