General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific store area and for overall store operations when acting as Manager on Duty. Key duties include opening/closing the store, supervising associates, ensuring merchandise presentation, maintaining cleanliness, and executing company operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Practice safe behaviors and maintain a high level of safety awareness.
  • Secure building entrance/exit, perform checks on Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) devices, and safeguard cash office and armored carrier pick‑ups.
  • Remove clutter to keep egress clear and test fire alarm systems.
  • Report or correct unsafe conditions promptly.
Customer Service
  • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect and professionalism.
  • Use company recognition programs to acknowledge associate performance.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the Company brand.
  • Maintain professional appearance and enforce dress code compliance.
  • Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards.
  • Receive merchandise truck deliveries and non‑merchandise inbound items.
  • Process merchandise efficiently and keep stockrooms clean and organized.
  • Assist with floor moves, promotional signings, and re‑wrapping as needed.
  • Maintain floor presentation guidelines and reduce loss due to damage.
Loss Prevention
  • Maintain a strong customer service presence on the sales floor.
  • Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information.
  • Operate the Public View Monitor (PVM) system and conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
  • Execute company best practices to minimize loss.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Support front‑end associates to meet productivity and service standards.
  • Control line pace and manage backup, lunch, and break schedules.
  • Train associates on cash registers, shortage control, and front‑end procedures.
  • Ensure equipment operates correctly and supplies are stocked.
  • Facilitate go‑back processing, scanning, security tagging, and ticketing.
  • Train associates on “Scan and Bag” best practice.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintain cleanliness and audit garment tags.
  • Ensure all returned merchandise is scanned, tagged, and ticketed.
Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager
  • Perform cash pulls, bank deposits, refund and purchase approvals, and payroll administrative tasks.
  • Handle front‑end control and other store‑manager assigned duties.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
  • Basic mathematical calculation skills.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Operate store equipment (PDTs, registers, PC).
  • Stand, walk, and move around store 100% of working time.
  • Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift >25 lbs.
