Job Title: Quality Inspector
Location: Rockwood, TN
Status: Non-exempt, Hourly
Reports to: Quality Manager
Hours: 3 open positions (one per shift)
1st shift - 7:30am - 4:00pm
2nd shift - 3:30pm - 12:00am
3rd shift - 11:30pm - 8:00am
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting parts at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. This role is essential to maintaining integrity and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect in-process components and finished products for compliance with specifications.
- Perform visual and mechanical inspections using tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, height gauges, and comparators.
- Accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records.
- Reject and quarantine non-conforming materials or products and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Conduct first article, in-process, and final inspections.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
- Ensure inspection and testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
- Participate in internal audits and support external audits when required.
- Uphold all company quality, safety, and cleanliness standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in manufacturing or quality preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a quality inspection role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with inspection tools and measuring equipment.
- Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001.
- Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills: experience with quality software or ERP systems is a plus.
- Ability to work independently or within a team and manage time effectively.
- Certification such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) is a plus.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience with SPC (Statistical Process Control) and root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram).
