Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides patient-centered care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role coordinates and delivers high-quality care based on established clinical protocols and physician/provider orders, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care, desired outcomes, and a supportive environment for patients and families.

Essential Functions
  • Coordinate and deliver patient-centered care in accordance with organizational policies and nursing process.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, document findings accurately, and report changes in condition to the care team.
  • Utilize knowledge of human growth and development for age-appropriate care and education.
  • Administer prescribed medications, monitor for side effects, and document administration per standards of practice.
  • Assist physicians during procedures within scope of competency.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and participate in code team activities such as CPR as appropriate.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and needs, ensuring voices are heard in planning and delivery.
  • Provide patient and family education on conditions, treatment plans, and post‑discharge care.
  • Implement infection control protocols to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
  • Monitor and operate medical equipment (IV pumps, monitors, ventilators) as needed.
  • Promote patient safety by adhering to National Patient Safety Goals and maintaining a clean environment.
  • Participate in audits, chart reviews, and compliance checks to ensure standards of practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate responsible decision-making, delegating care based on patient needs and policies.
  • Document patient care and education thoroughly and promptly in the medical record.
  • Engage in professional development to maintain clinical competency and knowledge of current nursing standards.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards.
  • Specialty areas:
    • Oncology RN: Administer chemotherapy, manage side effects, monitor vitals, manage pain, explain treatments, and provide emotional support.
    • Orthopedics RN: Provide specialized care for musculoskeletal conditions, pre‑operative and post‑operative care, conduct vascular assessments, manage immobilization devices, provide pain management, and educate patients.
    • Telemetry RN: Use telemetry equipment, analyze data, provide cardiac-focused care, respond to emergencies, and implement interventions.
Qualifications
  • 0–2 years of experience in a clinical nursing role or student clinical rotations in an acute care setting required.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of the nursing process and clinical nursing practices.
  • Ability to perform thorough assessments and communicate findings effectively.
  • Proficient in medication administration and monitoring side effects.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives.
Licenses and Certifications
  • RN – Registered Nurse – State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required.
  • BCLS – Basic Life Support required.
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred.
  • PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.
  • NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation preferred.
  • Refer to facility or unit‑specific guidelines for additional requirements.
