Job Description

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required | Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years administering enterprise SaaS platforms
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration
  • Hands-on rostering experience (Clever, Class Link, One Roster)
  • Scripting experience (Power Shell)
  • Experience managing File Wave or similar device deployment platforms
General Summary

The Application Services Specialist manages the district’s enterprise applications, authentication systems, roster synchronization workflows, and device/application deployment systems. This role oversees Microsoft 365 identity and security settings, MFA, SaaS lifecycle management, File Wave deployment pipelines, and rostering processes that connect SIS → LMS → instructional tools. The position ensures seamless access, security, and data accuracy across all district systems.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Enterprise Application Administration

  • Administer core district SaaS platforms (HR, Finance, Transportation, Food Service, Help Desk, etc.)
  • Configure and maintain SSO integrations (SAML, OAuth)
  • Coordinate with vendors on escalations, maintenance windows, updates, and feature changes
  • Maintain application configuration documentation and change logs

Identity, Access, and Rostering

  • Manage identity lifecycle (provisioning, deprovisioning, group automation)
  • Administer roster sync pipelines (One Roster, Clever, Class Link, SFTP-based sync jobs)
  • Troubleshoot roster mismatches, sync failures, and workflow errors
  • Collaborate with SIS and LMS teams to maintain clean, accurate data flows

Authentication & Security Controls

  • Configure and support Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) policies (enrollment, exceptions, resets)
  • Manage conditional access, sign-in restrictions, and application security policies
  • Enforce compliance and security best practices in partnership with the Director of Technology

File Wave Management

  • Administer File Wave servers, boosters, and clients
  • Build and deploy software packages, profiles, and patches
  • Support imaging and device provisioning workflows
  • Monitor agent health, compliance, and deployment logs
  • Maintain accurate inventory through File Wave device and software data

Integrations & Automation

  • Develop automation scripts (Power Shell) | Maintain API-based integrations for provisioning, rostering, and reporting | Document data flows, automated tasks, and runbooks

Collaboration & Support

  • Serve as Tier 3 escalation for application, identity, or roster-related issues
  • Collaborate with SIS Admin, LMS Admin, Systems/Network staff, and Help Desk teams
  • Provide documentation and training for Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff
  • Occasional assistance with Jefferson County Government offices

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environment Factors:

Must be able to lift 40 lbs and possess a valid TN driver license. A background check and physical exam are required.
