This role is primarily remote, and will require on site meetings at our Mooresville, NC facility regularly

The Director, Business Engagement & Governance builds and leads a team focused on ensuring Information Technology (IT) delivers the right solutions, at the right time, with measurable business outcomes. This role establishes governance practices, manages the IT project portfolio, oversees vendor and contract value realization, and ensures software licensing is properly managed. The Director, Business Engagement & Governance serves as the bridge between business leaders and IT, driving transparency, prioritization, and accountability across all technology initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain IT governance frameworks and operating models to ensure consistent decision-making and accountability.
  • Lead the IT portfolio management process, including intake, prioritization, planning, and resource allocation.
  • Drive transparency and communication between IT and business stakeholders on project status, value, risks, and timelines.
  • Ensure technology initiatives align to strategic objectives and deliver measurable business value.
  • Partner with business leaders to define requirements, outcomes, and success metrics for key initiatives.
  • Manage vendor performance, contract value realization, and ensure vendors deliver agreed outcomes and service levels.
  • Oversee software licensing management, compliance, and optimization across the organization.
  • Facilitate cross-functional decision-making and resolve conflicts to keep projects on track.
  • Implement and track benefits realization for major IT initiatives, ensuring value is captured and measured.
  • Travel required 50% of time to company facilities and key business locations for stakeholder engagement, team collaboration, and project delivery.

This position carries out People Leader responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage, coach, hire, train, and develop a high performing team of professionals.
  • Ensure continuous development of the Business Engagement & Governance team.
  • Recommend personnel actions (pay adjustments, promotions, transfers, terminations, etc.).
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage individual performance.
  • Communicate personnel actions following human resources (HR) and department head approval.
  • Ensure safety and quality standards are enforced and met.
  • Partner with HR to interview/screen potential new hires.
  • Organize training and development opportunities for direct reports.
  • Oversee team and individual employee professional development.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, IT, project management, related field, or commensurate work experience.
  • 10 years’ experience in IT, governance, portfolio management, business engagement, project management, or related fields.
  • 8 years’ progressive leadership experience including managing teams and driving organizational change.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and running governance frameworks and operating models.
  • Strong experience in portfolio management, including prioritization, intake, resource planning, and reporting.
  • Strong vendor management experience, including contract management and value realization.
