Geology Intern - Summer ETN Mines; Strawberry Plains, TN

Overview

The Geology Intern reports to the Chief Geologist and assists the Mine Technical Services team with operational and geology requirements. The role is for students in their 2nd or 3rd year of a Geology program, designed to provide exposure to the underground environment and engineering tasks.

• Promote and demonstrate safe behavior at all times
• Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed CHESS goals in support of the department, site and company standards
• Participate in daily crew safety meetings
• Take responsibility for the safety of all personnel, including yourself, at Nyrstar Tennessee Mines

• Manage logistics and handle drill core samples expertly
• Operate specialized equipment, including core/rock saw and forklift
• Prepare samples with precision and attention to detail
• Perform on-site data entry to support critical operations

• Liaise with other members of the operational and technical team
• Support and adhere to the Nyrstar Values and Behavior expectations

Currently enrolled in a Geology program in the 2nd or 3rd year.

• Current driver’s license
• Computer literacy:
  Microsoft Office (extensive Excel skills required)
• Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all tasks
• Pass a background check and post‑offer physical

• Good time management and prioritization skills
• Strong communication skills
• Self‑motivated, energetic and proactive
• High level of initiative, resourcefulness and personal organization
