This role will serve as the system owner for mechanical BOP equipment, overseeing all system readiness activities including walkdowns, mechanical completion verification, flushing/blowdown activities, equipment testing, and turnover package documentation. The Mechanical Commissioning Lead works closely with construction, electrical, I&C, and startup teams to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient system transition from construction to operations.
KeyProject Requirements
- Mechanical commissioning experience on combined-cycle power projects required
- Strong Balance of Plant (BOP) system expertise (fuel gas, lube oil, cooling water, air systems, pumps, tanks, piping, and steam-side auxiliary systems)
- Experience performing mechanical walkdowns, system verification, flushing/blowing, and turnover documentation
- Ability to coordinate with construction, electrical, I&C, and DCS teams during system checkout and startup
- Lead the mechanical commissioning activities for BOP and auxiliary systems including fuel gas, lube oil, cooling water, air systems, pumps, tanks, piping, and HRSG and steam-related mechanical systems
- Perform and oversee system walkdowns, verify system completeness, and generate/resolve punchlist items
- Coordinate flushing, blowing, pressure testing, leak checks, valve lineups, rotation checks, lubrication readiness, and equipment testing
- Support mechanical system turnovers including redlines, mechanical completion forms, and system documentation updates
- Collaborate with I&C and DCS teams to verify mechanical interlocks, per missives, feedback signals, and alarm logic related to mechanical systems
- Participate in daily commissioning and startup coordination meetings with EPC, owner’s representatives, and operations teams
- Review P&IDs, vendor manuals, system boundaries, and engineering packages to ensure mechanical systems meet design and commissioning requirements
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues impacting system readiness, equipment performance, or startup sequencing
- Ensure mechanical commissioning work is executed safely and in compliance with site procedures, LOTO policies, and EPC protocols
- Strong understanding of mechanical commissioning processes for power generation or EPC projects
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, system drawings, isometrics, vendor documentation, and mechanical turnover packages
- Hands-on experience performing mechanical testing (flushing, leak testing, vibration checks, alignment, lubrication system verification)
- Experience working with EPC punchlist systems, turnover documentation, and structured commissioning workflows
- Ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines including construction, electrical, I&C, and startup operations
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot pumps, rotating equipment, valves, and mechanical BOP systems
- 7+ years of mechanical commissioning experience on power generation or industrial EPC projects
- Prior work on GE 7HA, advanced-class combined cycle units, or large gas turbine BOP systems strongly preferred
