PROJECT ENGINEER
Our client, a global leader in the building materials industry, is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer for their Tennessee manufacturing facility (within commuting distance of the Knoxville–Chattanooga corridor).
With approximately 150+ employees and strong long‑term retention, this position is open due to internal advancement and offers excellent visibility and growth potential within the organization.
Flexible work schedule option: 4x10s or 5x8s.
Position SummaryResponsible for the design, development, and management of facility improvement and capital projects.
This includes estimating costs, creating designs, managing contractors, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Provides engineering support to plant operations, addressing technical issues and recommending process and equipment improvements.
Leads projects ranging from small repair initiatives to larger-scale capital upgrades.
This position is open due to internal advancement and offers strong visibility and long-term growth potential within the organization.
PrincipalDuties & Responsibilities
- Design and develop facility improvement and capital projects
- Prepare project estimates, schedules, and documentation
- Manage contractors and oversee construction processes
- Provide engineering support to plant operations
- Ensure projects meet budget, timeline, and quality standards
- Conduct post-project reviews and share best practices
- Assist with equipment and process implementation
- Leads capital and improvement projects ranging from small repairs to larger-scale plant upgrades
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3–6 years in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Project management exposure preferred
- Strong work ethic and hands‑on approach
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Identifying and resolving engineering issues efficiently
- Maintaining safety and environmental compliance
- Collaborating effectively with contractors and internal teams
- Delivering projects within financial constraints
- Evaluates and recommends facility and equipment improvements
- Oversees equipment installation and construction projects
- Supports development and implementation of safety initiatives
