We are currently seeking a full-time Utilities EHS Practitioner for our office in Knoxville, TN. This is an excellent opportunity to join and grow EnSafe, getting involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients across the globe. (Travel required).
As a Utilities EHS Practitioner
, you will bring deep experience in electrical utilities-distribution or generation-to support client health and safety programs. This role is best suited for a seasoned professional who can write and implement EHS programs, build OSHA-compliant training, and provide practical field-level guidance within utility operations. Candidates with prior utility-sector backgrounds, whether actively working or semi-retired, are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs tailored to utility (electric distribution or generation) operations.
- Providing technical expertise in OSHA regulations and applying compliance requirements to utility field environments.
- Writing, updating, and reviewing safety and compliance documentation, including policies and procedures, gap analysis, and risk assessments.
- Designing and delivering effective EHS training for utility employees and contractors.
- Supporting hazard identification, risk assessments, and corrective actions within utility projects.
- Advising leadership on regulatory requirements and best practices to foster a safe and compliant workplace.
- Traveling as needed to client sites across the U.S. (50%).
Minimum Skills and Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in EHS/H&S within the electric utility sector (distribution, generation, or electrical equipment manufacturing).
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, utility-specific compliance requirements, and industry standards.
- Proven ability to develop written programs, policies, and training content.
- Firsthand field experience in utilities, health, and safety management.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred
Skills:
- Prior consulting experience or ability to work independently across multiple client sites.
- Experience training cross-functional teams in utility environments.
- Flexibility for part-time or project-based work (ideal for retirees or semi-retired professionals).
- Utility certifications or safety credentials (CUSP, CSP, CIH, or equivalent).
