Position Overview:
Leads one or more safety program functional areas, including chemical safety, industrial hygiene, industrial safety, ergonomics, or fire protection. Assesses and mentors staff on industrial safety implementation, develops and executes programs to protect the health and safety of NFS employees, and collects, analyzes, and reports program data.
Location:
Onsite in Erwin, Tennessee.
- Guide safety staff in program development and assessment.
- Assist Senior Specialists with routine and special management activities.
- Coach and mentor plant employees on industrial safety.
- Determine impact of safety requirements and propose resolutions.
- Review proposed requirements and advise the Industrial Safety Manager.
- Interface with federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.
- Lead or support hazard analysis teams and execute program elements.
- Determine hazards and required protective actions during safety evaluations.
- Participate in readiness reviews and emergency response activities.
- Develop safety program functional element requirements.
- Recommend and implement improvements to existing programs.
- Prepare program documents and instructions.
- Execute safety program elements to protect employees.
- Prepare permits, pre-job walkdowns, hazard analyses, and testing.
- Collect and analyze data to guide actions.
- Report results to management.
- Implement safety training and qualification programs.
- B.S. in Hygiene, Safety, Engineering, Science, or related field (or equivalent experience: at least 2 years' relevant experience for each year of college, i.e., 8 years in lieu of a degree). Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred.
- With a B.S. degree: 6–8 years' experience in industrial safety disciplines. With a M.S. degree: 3–5 years' experience.

Base salary range: $77,000.00 – $ per year, with potential additional compensation such as annual cash incentive and full range of benefits.
Employment is at-will unless otherwise required by collective bargaining agreement. All new hires must comply with company health and safety requirements and will undergo federal background investigation, drug test, and reference verification. U.S. citizenship required to obtain DOE security clearance.
