Hixson High School is a 9-12 school located in Hixson, TN, just north of Chattanooga. The mission of Hixson High School is to provide an individualized, safe learning environment for all students to grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially in order to be productive, global citizens. We have a collaborative culture committed to student achievement and teacher/staff development.

We are proud to offer our students post-secondary pathways through three Future Ready Institutes:
Institute of Business Leaders and Owners, CHI Memorial Institute of Healthcare and Medical Careers, and the Institute of Integrative Agriculture Sciences and Natural Resources. In addition, Hixson highlights the arts through our orchestra, concert and jazz bands, concert and show choir, drama, and award-winning visual arts program. Hixson has a plethora of advanced and extended learning opportunities to include:
Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Enrollment, and State Dual Credit courses. Additionally, Hixson High furthers its opportunities for students through its award winning JROTC Air Force.

Students can participate in an array of sports, clubs, and organizations including but not limited to: football, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, golf, bowling, soccer, baseball, softball, cheerleading, track and field, FBLA, HOSA, FFA, National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy, Amazon Emerging Engineers, Engineering Real World Scholars and Environthon and Science Troupe.

We are looking for teachers who are committed to children, who are able to connect and relate with a diverse student body, and who respect all cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Candidates should be competent in subject matter, willing to be pedagogically coached, and committed to being a team player.

The purpose of this position is to uphold these beliefs in service of the 45,000 students served in HCS by collaborating with teaching staff in the development of student literacy through the administration of the library media program. Provides specialized instruction to students and teaching staff, and oversees the selection, organization, utilization, maintenance of library, information, and curriculum resources.

• Support the instructional needs of staff and students and promote literacy throughout the school, including providing access to leisure reading materials.
• Develop learning activities and experiences which support state standards and reflect the school’s mission and goals. Librarians may be required to teach self-contained classes.
• Assist teachers and students in navigating online resources.
• Assist teachers in the improvement of instruction through the recommendation of various strategies, media, and cross-curricular connections and in providing digital resources that complement their curriculum.
• Provide resources appropriate to varying abilities and needs, as well as a rich assortment of materials that reflect the local community and other cultures.
• Promote digital literacy and safety through classroom lessons and demonstrating best practices.
