Buffalo Builders (Self-Perform Team)

Louisville, KY (Local Travel Required)

Buffalo Construction is seeking a driven, hands‑on Field Construction Manager to lead our self‑performing team, Buffalo Builders. This role is based out of our Louisville Support Center and requires frequent visits to local job sites.

This is not a clipboard‑only role. We’re looking for a field leader who sets the tone on site — someone who builds people, protects the schedule, owns safety, and takes pride in delivering work that makes the customer happy.

What You’ll Do Lead the Field
  • Oversee daily operations of the Buffalo Builders self‑perform team across multiple job sites.
  • Set expectations, drive accountability, and foster a positive, high‑performing culture in the field.
  • Model Buffalo’s core values on every project.
Own the Schedule
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules.
  • Coordinate labor, sequencing, and deadlines to ensure projects stay on track.
  • Proactively identify risks and course‑correct before they impact the timeline.
Manage Resources
  • Ensure labor, materials, and equipment are allocated efficiently.
  • Confirm materials are on‑site and equipment is operational.
  • Maximize crew productivity without compromising safety or quality.
Protect Quality
  • Conduct regular inspections of self‑perform work.
  • Ensure work meets plans, specifications, and Buffalo standards.
  • Address issues quickly and implement corrective action when needed.
Champion Safety
  • Enforce safety protocols and company standards at all times.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and jobsite audits.
  • Promote a zero‑incident mindset across all sites.
Communicate & Collaborate
  • Partner closely with Project Managers and field leadership.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendor partners and suppliers.
  • Provide clear, consistent communication to all stakeholders.
Solve Problems in Real Time
  • Anticipate and address field challenges before they elevate.
  • Make informed decisions that protect schedule, budget, and team morale.
Control Costs
  • Monitor labor hours and material usage.
  • Reduce waste and avoid unnecessary expenses.
  • Support the project team in keeping work within budget.
Maintain Documentation
  • Track work completed, materials used, and scope changes.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping for payroll and reporting purposes.
Travel Locally
  • Regularly visit all active local project sites where Buffalo Builders is performing work.
Bridge Language Gaps
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating effectively across language barriers.
  • Spanish proficiency is strongly preferred, or a willingness to actively develop competency.
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of commercial construction experience
  • Experience as a Crew Lead, Foreman, Superintendent, or similar field leadership role
  • Proven ability to lead teams and drive performance
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • High sense of ownership and accountability
  • Ability to travel locally between project sites
  • Spanish proficiency (preferred) or commitment to developing language skills
