Overview
The Production Supervisor is responsible for an assigned manufacturing department. They will oversee the operations of that department related to employee training, safety adherence, performance, product quality, process improvement, and meeting production target goals. Compliance with all safety requirements, product quality standards, and company policies are essential functions of this role.
Responsibilities- Enforces strict safety guidelines and ensures environmental compliance is being adhered to.
- Balances safety, quality, cost and delivery to achieve positive results in all areas.
- Collaborates with manager on daily, weekly, and monthly objectives and communicates these to department leads and employees.
- Responsible for tracking and reporting daily production metrics to the manager.
- Analyzes production data and reports to identify areas for improvement and implements strategies to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Ensures the safe use of equipment and notifies the manager if equipment maintenance is needed.
- Reviews production output according to quality specifications.
- Ensures clear and timely communication to employees regarding department goals and expectations.
- Identifies and implements process improvements.
- Trains new employees on how to safely use machinery and follow proper procedures.
- Tracks absenteeism and timekeeping of employees.
- Evaluates employee performance, provides feedback, and implements corrective actions as needed.
- Ensures employees complete required safety and compliance training by scheduled due dates.
- Works closely with other shift supervisors to ensure production handovers are effective.
- Manages vendor and client communications.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School or GED required.
- 3+ years of transformer or manufacturing supervision experience.
- Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required.
- WMS (Warehouse Management System) experience preferred.
- OSHA
10 certified preferred. - Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
- A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
- Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations; notifies management immediately of any safety concerns, hazardous conditions, or injuries.
- Ability to interpret work orders and ensure the team has what they need to be set up for success to execute.
- Meet department and production goals set by the manager.
- Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations.
- Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail, and ability to work in a team environment.
- Adheres to the company’s employee handbook policies and embodies the organization’s core values.
- Ability to learn other department functions and fill in as needed.
- Complete company compliance and safety training when required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Lift 50 lbs floor to waist and waist to shoulder multiple times.
- Standing and walking for long durations.
- Bending, squatting, and kneeling multiple times for long durations.
- The ability to climb up and down a ladder multiple times.
- Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in the heat and cold due to manufacturing facilities not being climate controlled.
