Polysomnography Technician I

Memorial Hospital, Temple, TX – PRN nights (12‑hour shifts). Under the Manager’s direction, the technician monitors patient sleep for diagnostic analysis of sleep‑related disorders and performs therapeutic polygraphic procedures. The role requires communication and education of patients and families regarding sleep disorders and treatments.

Essential Functions

• Perform and score polysomnographic studies, including oxygen and CPAP titrations.
• Document patient events according to department policy.
• Communicate study results to patients, physicians, and family members.
• Calibrate and troubleshoot equipment, contacting manufacturers as needed.
• Assist with policy development, community sleep apnea screening, and training of respiratory personnel on mask fit techniques.

• Understanding of polysomnographic modalities, therapies, and equipment.
• Ability to read, write, and follow flow chart protocols.
• Stress tolerance, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
• Maintenance of audio and video equipment.
• General computer skills: typing, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning, and email.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Less than 1 year of experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
