HIM Medical Records Clerk

Position Summary:

To collect, maintain and make available to authorized users timely, accurate and complete patient health information.

Canyon Creek Behavioral Health, affiliated with Universal Health Services, is a 102-bed acute care psychiatric hospital located in Temple, Texas, offering inpatient acute and intensive outpatient programs for adolescents, adults, and seniors.

• Prioritize, locate, pull, assemble, track and ensure the appropriate transport of records requested by other departments in accordance with established standards.
• Notify the requester when a record is not in the file while attempting to locate it.
• Accurately file all charts belonging to assigned aisles to appropriate location daily.
• File all loose papers for assigned aisles within three business days of receipt.
• Maintain clean aisles.
• Perform other work as needed/assigned.
• Customer Service is a primary goal: provide the best customer service experience and identify staff providing exceptional service.

Education: High school education or GED. Preferred:
Associate’s degree that includes coursework in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.

Experience: Minimum one (1) year recent experience in a hospital. Preferred:
One year of previous HIM/Medical Records experience.
