Position: Patient Services Specialist – Days (9:00 AM–5:00 PM)

Training

Onsite 5 days a week, 8 AM – 5 PM, for about 4–7 weeks. Schedule includes weekends.

Work Schedule

8‑hour shifts, 9 AM – 5 PM, rotating weekends, two days off each week.

Job Summary

Patient Services Specialist 1 provides administrative support in a physician office or clinic, ensuring high quality, patient‑centered care. Duties include patient relations, check‑in/check‑out, scheduling, insurance verification, and answering phones.

Essential Functions
  • Assist with patient duties: relations, check‑in/out, scheduling, insurance verification, answering phones; arrange follow‑up visits and referrals.
  • Collect and verify insurance information; verify demographics and enter changes into computer system.
  • Direct patients to appropriate waiting areas.
  • Accept and post payments for physician/clinic services according to guidelines.
  • Enter charges and generate daily payment reports; verify cash drawer.
  • Provide accurate patient, medical, financial or procedural information to patients or approved outside entities.
  • Discuss financial arrangements with patients as needed.
  • Receive and direct phone calls; assist patients and visitors.
  • Respond to routine inquiries concerning practice services, hours of operation, etc.
  • Handle patient complaints appropriately.
  • Assist with medical records duties as requested.
