Onsite 5 days a week, 8 AM – 5 PM, for about 4–7 weeks. Schedule includes weekends.
Work Schedule8‑hour shifts, 9 AM – 5 PM, rotating weekends, two days off each week.
Job SummaryPatient Services Specialist 1 provides administrative support in a physician office or clinic, ensuring high quality, patient‑centered care. Duties include patient relations, check‑in/check‑out, scheduling, insurance verification, and answering phones.
Essential Functions- Assist with patient duties: relations, check‑in/out, scheduling, insurance verification, answering phones; arrange follow‑up visits and referrals.
- Collect and verify insurance information; verify demographics and enter changes into computer system.
- Direct patients to appropriate waiting areas.
- Accept and post payments for physician/clinic services according to guidelines.
- Enter charges and generate daily payment reports; verify cash drawer.
- Provide accurate patient, medical, financial or procedural information to patients or approved outside entities.
- Discuss financial arrangements with patients as needed.
- Receive and direct phone calls; assist patients and visitors.
- Respond to routine inquiries concerning practice services, hours of operation, etc.
- Handle patient complaints appropriately.
- Assist with medical records duties as requested.
- Good listening, interpersonal, and communication skills; professional, pleasant, respectful telephone etiquette.
- Adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
- Empathetic listener, sensitive, upbeat, optimistic, articulate, gracious, tactful.
- Assess requests promptly using electronic and paper resources; respond correctly to patient inquiries.
- Calm upset patients in a composed, professional demeanor.
- Excellent data entry, numeric, typing, and computer navigation skills with attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, constantly changing, stressful environment.
