Job Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant, under the supervision of a physical therapist, conducts patient assessment, testing and therapy using standard physical therapy modalities to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability.
Essential Functions of the Role- Administers physical therapy interventions as planned and directed by the Physical Therapist to facilitate quality patient care; applies therapeutic principles appropriately.
- Instructs and assists patients, monitors performance and physical status to ascertain effectiveness of program; assists with patient mobility including bed mobility, transfers, and gait.
- Utilizes modalities correctly and answers patient questions regarding their use; adheres to safety practices and patient guarding.
- Escorts patients to the treatment area, establishes rapport professionally, and develops and documents effective home exercise programs as needed.
- Prepares comprehensive and concise assessments and documentation of patient treatment and progress, sharing information with appropriate parties; communicates with the Physical Therapist regarding progress and goal modification.
- Submits accurate charges in a timely manner.
- Supervises physical therapy aides and students when appropriate and as assigned, following Texas Physical Therapy Practice Act guidelines, and communicates treatment information effectively.
- Fulfills continuing education and certification requirements to maintain qualifications; attends professional education programs and reviews current literature; presents educational programs as requested.
- Physically capable of prolonged standing, walking, pushing, and lifting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Professional and positive attitude, working cooperatively with patients, families, and employees at all levels.

- Education:
Associate's degree. - Experience:
Less than 1 year of experience. - Certification, license, or registration:
Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA);
Basic Life Support (BLS) or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
