Job SummaryAs a Physician Assistant in the Hospitalist Service, you will provide comprehensive care to patients in inpatient and outpatient settings, collaborating with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality medical care.

- Assess the physical and mental condition of patients through comprehensive or problem‑focused examinations and medical histories.
- Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and healthcare needs.
- Prescribe, recommend, or employ medical drug therapies or other forms of therapeutic treatments and procedures, performing indicated procedures in accordance with approved policies.
- Formulate and implement comprehensive, outcomes‑based treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, evaluating patient response and care effectiveness.
- Counsel patients and families regarding medical processes, disease management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion, including drug regimens and potential interactions.
- Maintain appropriate records detailing treatment plans, outcomes, and initiate timely consultation or referral when the problem exceeds scope.
- Provide consultation‑level services for conditions related to the provider’s specialty, level of experience, and training.
- Manage patients in healthcare settings beyond the primary clinic, such as inpatient, emergency, surgical, or procedural areas.
- Perform invasive procedures specific to scope of practice and competency as delegated by supervising physician.
- Conduct follow‑up with patients pre‑ and post‑operatively, round in hospital, or see patients in the Emergency Department.
- Participate in all phases of perioperative patient management, including out‑patient, inpatient, and operating room settings.
- May be required to perform patient care duties beyond the regular schedule based on departmental coverage needs.
- Knowledge of diagnostics, treatment alternatives, drug properties, interactions, and preventive health‑care measures.
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Critical thinking and complex problem‑solving abilities.
- Proficiency in computers and related software applications.
- Capability to develop and implement comprehensive, outcomes‑based treatment plans.
- Capability to counsel patients regarding medical, psychological, or psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification.
- Proficient in interpreting and evaluating laboratory and other diagnostic tests.
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in Texas.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Valid certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
- Monday‑Friday, day shift, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
- Outpatient and inpatient responsibilities.
- No call or weekends.
- Approximately 18–22 patients per day.
- Immediate eligibility for health and welfare benefits.

- Education:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. - Experience:
Less than 1 year of experience. - Certification/licensing:
Current Texas PA license and BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
