Schedule: Full-Time Day Position (12-hour shifts)
Job SummaryThe Registered Respiratory Therapist, Transport, provides patient care in a mobile environment to high-risk patients and their families during transport. They act as a hospital-wide resource for establishing and maintaining a high-quality standard of care for the neonatal and pediatric transport population, organizing, implementing, and coordinating patient care as directed by the Physician for the purpose of stabilization during transfer to a tertiary or special Care Center.
EssentialFunctions of the Role
- Perform and direct the administration of respiratory care services, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, inhaled medication, airway clearance, intubation, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, and bedside spirometry, as ordered by a patient attending physician.
- Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation in emergency situations.
- Review physician orders, examine diagnostic test results, and provide appropriate therapy based on the patient’s current clinical condition.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of departmental operations, policies, procedures, and programs related to the transport environment and patient population.
- Demonstrate data skills necessary to resolve complex patient problems in a mobile environment, develop standards of care and procedures, and evaluate the quality of respiratory care.
- Document all treatments and therapies, record supplies used, and accurately file corresponding charges while reporting outcomes of therapeutic interventions.
- Adhere to established policies, including infection control, HIPPA, time and attendance, and social media guidelines.
- Maintain physical capability to lift/carry 50 pounds, push/pull up to 40 pounds, reach overhead moderately, move up moderately, squat/bend/kneel occasionally, sit/stand moderately, walk/move, and tolerate tight or confined spaces during transport.
- Be eligible for a physical exam, including a functional capacity test that requires lifting 100 pounds.
- Live within a one‑hour drive or 60 miles of the base location.
- Advanced knowledge of respiratory care modalities, therapies, equipment, and medications.
- Ability to read, write, and follow flow chart protocols.
- Clear oral and written communication skills.
- Capability to work under stressful conditions and exhibit critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Compliance with safety, infection control, and isolation procedures at all times.
- Ability to balance multiple demands and respond to time constraints.
- Proficiency in general computer skills including data entry, electronic medical documentation, hand‑held scanning, and email.

- Education: Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a respiratory therapist.
- Certification / License / Registration: Must hold ACLS, Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Must also hold a valid RRT‑NPS, RCP, or RRT license as required.
