SUMMARY:
Under general instruction from the department chair, adjunct faculty teach courses as scheduled, cultivate healthy teacher-student relationships, and engage the students in active learning. Adjunct faculty will perform administrative aspects of instruction in a timely manner.
Qualifications (Required and Preferred)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering or a master's degree with 18 graduate hours in chemistry.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will:
- Teach chemistry courses at a variety of times and locations
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
- Develop clear syllabi and course materials
- Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress
- Hold regular office hours to meet with and advise students
- Seek feedback to improve quality of teaching
- Demonstrate professional written and oral skills in communications with students, colleagues, and the community
- Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner
- Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
- Attend meetings, training, and orientations as required
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- Display empathy and positive regard for others in written, verbal and non-verbal communications.
- Work with colleagues and students by practicing punctuality, respect for deadlines, collaborative problem solving, and honest communication.
- Be friendly and collegial with co-workers, faculty, students, staff, and visitors to the campus.
- Build trusting relationships by acting with integrity, courtesy, and responsibility, even in the face of stress or demanding workplace conditions.
- Maintain proficiency as needed and approved by attending trainings, reading job-related materials, and meeting with others in area of responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE:
- Mastery of course content.
- Knowledge of pedagogical practices relevant to discipline.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and departmental strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, emphasizing collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation.
- Effective presentation and other communication skills.
- Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to provide effective teaching and instruction for a diverse population of students.
- Ability to engage students in the learning process.
Primarily light physical activity is required including computer usage, walking, standing, bending, and the occasional lifting and manipulation of objects up to 25 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is normally performed in an interior/office at the Temple College, Temple location. Travel to offsite centers may be required. This is an on-site position.
- Hours will vary depending on class time. Instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction.
