Overview
The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System is looking for a dedicated Primary Care Physician to join our team in Temple, TX. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality outpatient primary care to our Veteran patients. Join us in providing exceptional care to those who have served our country.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care services.
- Collaborate with the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) to manage a panel of patients.
- In the context of a longitudinal relationship, fulfill all primary care needs, including acute and chronic illness, gender-specific primary care, mental health (screen for conditions such as depression, substance use/abuse, military sexual trauma and PTSD; evaluate and treat uncomplicated mental health disorders as well as substance use disorders; refer patients appropriately for further evaluation and treatment of sexual assault and military sexual trauma, mental health disorders and substance use disorders) and preventative care (age-appropriate cancer screening such as colon, breast and cervical cancer;
weight management counseling; Chlamydia screening when indicated; smoking cessation and immunizations), along with coordination of care delivery (coordinate with specialty care when needed and communicate with the specialty physician regarding the evaluation and treatment plan to ensure continuity of care). - Ensure panel sizes adhere to VHA guidelines, considering factors such as patient complexity, available support staff, and the number of treatment rooms. Each physician s panel size will be tailored to their specific practice and setting.
- Engage Veteran patients as active participants in their health care decisions, offering information and encouragement to help them take ownership of their health.
- Work with other team members to support the unique health care needs of each Veteran, ensuring the system best serves their individual requirements.
- Alternative or collateral duties may include management of a subsection of primary care patients by disease status or demographic status (e.g., women veterans, OIF/OEF veterans, employees). These duties are typically designated at the time of joining but may occur during employment as projects arise through strategic or other initiatives.
Preferred Experience: Board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine with at least 3 years outpatient primary care practice experience.
Work ScheduleWork Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
Benefits and Compensation- Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Authorized (Learn more).
- Pay: Salary Range: $229,438-$286,043. Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. Education and length of practice are considered through a formal pay-setting process to determine the final compensable salary (Base Pay + Market Pay).

May be approved. - Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME).
- Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
- Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).
- Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.
- CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification).

- Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.
