Tax Preparer

Job Description

Conlon Tax Service is looking for several individuals to join our team in Temple. We are looking for goal-driven tax preparers to analyze tax data submitted by clients and file and submit tax returns. Tax preparers should ensure confidentiality, provide excellent service to promote repeat business, and provide future tax planning to clients. You will prepare simple and complex, individual and small business Federal and State tax returns.

The positions open are seasonal, part time and full time.

• Prior individual and business tax preparation experience in a tax practice or retail setting a plus, but not mandatory.
• Knowledge of tax laws, tax concepts and familiarity with form 1040 and schedules helpful.
• Ability/motivation to expand expertise and obtain a tax credential or certification.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Proficiency with common tax preparation, word processing and spreadsheet software applications helpful.
• Great organizational skills, including time management and strategic thinking.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and keen attention to detail.

Tax Preparer candidates should have at least a high school diploma or GED and completed coursework in tax preparation, accounting, bookkeeping, business finance or other relevant topics. Roles that only handle simple tax returns may only require minimum education and on-the-job training. Roles with more complex tax return duties may require an associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or another relevant field.

Bilingual and Quick Books experience a plus.
