Job Profile Summary
Provides technical lab support by independently performing basic lab and research-related tasks to ensure accurate research results that can expand on the knowledge of the field of study. Responsible for following lab safety standards.
Job DescriptionWe invite applications for an NIH-funded Research Specialist position to join a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary research team focused on studies of intestinal stem cells, early developmental programming, and oncogenic transformation using genome editing methods with multi-omic approaches. The successful candidate will lead projects aimed at dissecting the developmental programming of intestinal stem cells using human iPSC‑derived colon organoids. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the interface of developmental and stem cell biology, tumor initiation, and single‑cell methods.
The research involves human iPS cell culture, genome editing, in vitro directed differentiation, modeling of early events in colorectal cancer, and multi‑omic applications. Anticipated start is Spring 2026, but remains flexible for applicants with desired qualifications. This position is expected to run for at least two consecutive years. The second‑year renewal is contingent upon satisfactory progress and contribution to the collective program.
About the PI:
Miyeko
D. Mana is an assistant professor in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University and a research affiliate at Mayo Clinic Arizona. She is an American Cancer Society Research Scholar with over 2900 citations, known for her contributions to understanding how diets affect intestinal stem cells using mouse and organoid models.
About the Lab:
The lab explores how intestinal stem cells are influenced by environmental factors that promote or protect against intestinal pathologies. The focus is the metabolic‑transcriptional‑epigenetic axis that governs stem cell intrinsic adaptations to diet. The lab is part of the larger regenerative biology and regenerative medicine community studying basic and biomedical questions.
