The Injection Molding Process Technician is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the injection molding processes to ensure the production of high‑quality plastic parts and components. This role involves setting up and maintaining molding machines, troubleshooting process issues, and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality.
Responsibilities Process Setup and Optimization- Set up and adjust injection molding machines and equipment for production runs, including configuring settings such as temperature, pressure, and cycle times.
- Optimize molding processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance product quality.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with injection molding machines, molds, and processes to minimize downtime and production disruptions.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machines and equipment, and coordinate with maintenance teams for major repairs.
- Monitor production runs to ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and measurements of molded parts, and implement corrective actions to address any defects or inconsistencies.
- Analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement in the molding process.
- Implement process changes and enhancements to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve product consistency.
- Maintain accurate records of process setups, adjustments, and production data.
- Prepare and submit reports on process performance, issues, and improvements.
- Train and assist production staff on proper machine operation, process adjustments, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Provide technical support and guidance to ensure smooth operation and adherence to process standards.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in injection molding or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a process technician or in a similar role within an injection molding environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with injection molding processes, equipment, and quality control standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and specifications.
- Certification or training in injection molding processes and technology.
- Experience with different types of injection molding machines and technologies.
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and equipment.
- May involve standing for extended periods, lifting materials, and working in varying temperatures.
