Overview
The Director of Safety is responsible for leading, developing, and executing the company's comprehensive safety strategy across all locations nationwide. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and client occupational safety regulations while fostering a proactive safety culture throughout all levels of the organization. The Director of Safety works closely with executive leadership, operations, project management, and field personnel to minimize risk, prevent injuries, and support safe, efficient execution of technology infrastructure projects.
The Director of Safety provides strategic oversight of safety programs related to construction and technology installation activities, including but not limited to working at heights, ladder and lift operations, confined spaces, electrical safety, tool usage, and jobsite hazard mitigation. This position is accountable for driving continuous improvement in safety performance, reducing incidents and claims, and ensuring consistent safety standards across a nationally distributed workforce.
- Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and lead others to create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).
- Must promote Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
- Must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with Client, vendor, contractor, and IES representative(s).
- Must possess proven problem solving and critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
- Must possess manual dexterity, flexibility and visual acuity to perform inspection functions requiring walking, climbing, squatting, lifting, bending, twisting, etc.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and distinguish all applicable codes, colors and symbols correctly.
- Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
- Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner.
- Must possess the ability to learn the company and client computer systems.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
- Minimum of 12-15 years of safety senior leadership experience within construction industries, preference to low-voltage industry experience.
- Bachelor s degree in occupational safety, environmental health, engineering, or a related field preferred. A non-related bachelor s degree with equivalent work experience and safety related certifications may be evaluated for consideration.
- Experience managing safety programs across multiple states or regions.
