The Assistant General Manager reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for assisting the Sales team as well as day‑to‑day operations. This role requires passion for sales and dedication to helping members achieve their health and wellness goals. You will create connections with prospective members, facilitate their membership journey, and ensure their success while being flexible and adaptive to evolving gym needs.

Position

Purpose

Lead, coach, and train the Sales team to create a fun atmosphere, be great hosts, and serve as the hub for information for our members, guests, and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure sales targets are met, especially during weekends or when the General Manager is absent.
  • Focus on selling club memberships, individual memberships, fitness services, products, and programs to meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Oversee billing processes for memberships, monitor the sales process, and ensure timely follow‑up with leads and prospects.
  • Communicate goals, expectations, and procedures to staff, ensuring everyone understands their roles.
  • Supervise the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility, including equipment, locker rooms, and common areas.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintain proper certifications, and implement safety protocols.
  • Deliver high‑quality customer service by addressing member concerns, managing membership inquiries, and resolving issues promptly.
  • Engage members in a friendly and approachable manner, actively listening to their needs and providing clear and helpful responses.
  • Coordinate calmly and clearly with staff and members during emergencies or unexpected disruptions, providing necessary instructions and updates to ensure safety.
Qualifications
  • 2 years of customer service experience.
  • 3–4 years of sales experience.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with employees, management, and vendors.
  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills with people at all levels and functions.
  • Strong detail orientation, systematic problem‑solving approach, good time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.
  • Prior experience or strong interest in the fitness industry is a plus.

Requirements
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to work in a gym setting, moving around club floors and rooms, and communicating with employees, members, and the public.
  • Ability to bend routinely and lift more than 40 lbs.
  • Ability to access and operate the company computer system, including preparing documents, entering data, and reading reports.
Additional Compensation
  • Variable income opportunities including commission and bonus.
  • Post‑training salary increase.

Hourly Position - Potential Annual Earnings: $41,000—$82,000 USD
