Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Kitchell is seeking a forward-thinking, detail-oriented, and collaborative Human Resource Generalist to join our People Experience team and build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States.
The Human Resource Generalist plays a key role in delivering a consistent, high-quality employee experience for an assigned operating company. This role owns critical aspects of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding and pre-employment processes, day-to-day employee support, leave of absence administration, and exit interviews. The Generalist also supports corporate recruitment efforts, compliance requirements, and cross-functional People Experience initiatives, partnering closely with leaders and the broader team to ensure accurate, compliant, and people-centered outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the onboarding process, including offer letter preparation, background screening coordination, new hire orientation, I-9/E-Verify completion, establishment of allowances, and HRIS data entry
- Prepare and deliver Day 1 communications and orientation materials to ensure a consistent new hire experience
- Manage the full offboarding process, including exit documentation, final pay coordination, return of company property, and conducting exit interviews
- Identify trends from exit interviews, share and report on insights with the People Experience team leadership and business unit leaders
- Serve as the primary point of contact for generalist employee inquiries and actively monitor the HR inbox
- Administer leaves of absence (FMLA, state, and company programs), including employee intake, documentation review, eligibility determinations, manager guidance, and payroll coordination
- Support corporate recruitment through job postings, resume review, interview coordination, and candidate communications
- Manage Service Award ordering and distribution
- Support compliance activities, including regulatory reporting and maintaining HR compliance posters
- Contribute to People Experience projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources or People Experience roles, with responsibility across multiple stages of the employee lifecycle.
- Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end onboarding and offboarding, including offer letter preparation, pre-employment screenings, new hire orientation, HRIS data entry, and exit documentation.
- Proven experience providing generalist-level employee support, serving as a primary point of contact for employees and leaders and responding to day-to-day People Experience needs.
- Hands-on experience administering leaves of absence, including FMLA, state leave programs, and company-sponsored leaves, with responsibility for employee intake, documentation review, eligibility determinations, employee and manager communications, and coordination with Payroll.
- Experience supporting recruitment activities, including job posting, resume review, interview scheduling, candidate communications, and maintaining a positive candidate experience.
- Working knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirements, including I-9/E-Verify, wage and hour considerations, leave administration, and required regulatory reporting.
- Experience working within an HRIS environment (e.g., UKG/Kronos or similar systems) and partnering cross-functionally with Payroll, Accounting, and other internal and external vendors.
- Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with discretion and sound judgment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a general, climate controlled, office environment.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Travel may be required up to 15% of the time.
- Valid Motor Vehicle Record with no restrictions or suspensions.
- Ability to drive a motorized vehicle.
