What you will accomplish- Washes all soiled linens, towels, napkins, or other assigned items and ensures they are ironed, folded, and stocked according to department procedures and standards to exceed guest satisfaction.
- Maintains cleanliness of the laundry room and reports damage or mechanical deficiencies.
- Exceeds guest expectations through attentive service.
- Removes and sorts dirty linens and towels from laundry carts.
- Washes and dries all linens, towels, rags, etc., as directed by management.
- Learns, understands, and follows the proper operation of washing machines, dryers, other equipment, and the use of chemicals. Cleans dryer filters daily and maintains all equipment as trained.
- Immediately reports any repairs or maintenance needs for laundry equipment, guest rooms, public areas, or back-of-house areas.
- Resolves guest complaints within the scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management.
- Notifies supervisor and/or Security of unusual events, missing items, or alleged theft.
- Notifies management of problems resulting from guest complaints, intoxication, or disruptive behavior.
- Reports to work as scheduled (on time and on a regular basis).
Other Responsibilities/Supportive Functions:
- Performs duties of Room Attendant when needed.
- Delivers linens to linen closets, restaurants, or designated areas.
- Stocks, restocks, and stores the housekeeping cart according to prescribed procedures and safety regulations.
- Returns items found in guest rooms, hallways, or back of the house to the Housekeeping department and logs necessary information (date, location, item description, finder).
- Notifies management of unsafe conditions, needed maintenance of rooms or equipment, and any accidents.
- Prior hotel or laundry experience is desirable.
- Bi-lingual is not required, but is desirable.
- Team member regularly stands and walks for sustained periods; works at a quick pace.
- Frequent grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching; includes lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
- Visual acuity required to ensure accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work.
- Environment includes indoor/outdoor conditions, high noise levels from cleaning equipment, and exposure to cleaning chemicals.
- Possible exposure to fumes, odors, dust, infectious diseases, and blood borne pathogens.
