What You’ll Do

This is a great opportunity for a Full Time Psychiatrist to join our team and provide services to high‑needs children. Under medical direction, the Psychiatrist performs specialized duties in clinical settings or off‑site; performs mental health assessments; manages the care of patients within the field of psychiatric mental health; provides health education to these patients, specific to the needs of the older adult mentally ill.

Works in a collaborative strength‑based, family‑centered service planning team environment. Performs clinically sound interventions to support client problem resolution; provides appropriate customer service; maintains appropriate, organized documentation; attends team meetings as available, provides clinical consultation and serves as a source for information and referral. Essential Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations including medical histories. Evaluate complaints of an acute and chronic nature. Formulate an initial diagnosis and treatment plan for individuals with common mental health problems.
  • Provide medication, medication monitoring, medication education, crisis response, direct mental health services, and medical record documentation, as required.
  • Develop working relationships with primary care clinics and coordinate care with PCPs and other professionals as indicated.
  • Provide support, psychotherapy and supportive counseling for clients in regards to psychosocial, environmental, and physical well‑being.
  • Collaborate with other professionals for less common and more complicated mental health problems.
  • Provide health education to clients, caregivers and family, as well as staff.
  • Monitor changes of clients with persistent mental illness.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
  • Attend scheduled departmental meetings to maintain connection with other members of the department and to learn of changes within the agency and within the greater mental health community.
  • Participate in supporting the operations of the Agency's Quality Improvement Program as directed.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and positive working relationships and effective ongoing communication with all EMPACT‑SPC staff, referring organizations, behavioral health clients, parole officers, case managers, service coordinators and school personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisor in the development and implementation of paperwork procedures.
  • Participate in agency fund‑raising activities as requested by management.
Education/Licensure
  • Must have completed either an allopathic or osteopathic medical school and have completed a psychiatry residency. If working with children, need to have completed a child psychiatry fellowship.
  • Must be eligible to participate in Medicare, Medicaid and other federal health care programs; must be both privileged and credentialed by the ADHS and Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA). Failure to meet these criteria at least two weeks prior to the start date may result in a delay in appointment or cancellation of employment offer. Once appointed, employees must retain these qualifications;

    failure to do so shall result in the termination of employment.
  • Verification of qualifying experience, education, and/or training is required at the time of filing. Candidates unable to do so may submit a letter requesting a waiver of this requirement indicating the reason(s) verification cannot be obtained. Failure to submit verification or request for waiver will result in application rejection.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona Medical License. Board certification or board eligibility in the field of psychiatry required.
