Position: Environmental & Utilities Operator (Rotating Shift)

Typical Accountabilities

  • Operate, monitor and maintain the following equipment: electric emergency power generators including Cogeneration (CHP System), steam boilers, HVAC Systems (Chillers, cooling tower, AHU’s), air compressors, purified water systems, fire water pumps, chlorine analyzer, dust collector’s systems, effluent pretreatment system, water treatment equipment (softener, sand filter, carbon filter, etc.), BMS, etc. Monitors, records and analyzed the operating data according to the established procedures.
  • Take care of minor corrective and preventive maintenance of utilities equipment mentioned above.
  • Responsible for the water treatment for boilers, cooling towers and other equipment by preparing and feeding the required chemicals to the water. Perform chemical test following the applicable operating procedure.
  • Receive and unload combustible (fuel oil/propane). Ensure that the activity follows the applicable operating procedures.
  • Make periodic inspections of the equipment and systems mentioned above to observe operating conditions, as per operating parameters, and the need for repair or adjustment.
  • Operate the wastewater pre-treatment system (neutralization unit and auxiliary equipment) by monitoring and recording the operating parameters. Observe and report variations in operating conditions and interpret pH values results and flow meter charts. Maintain records of operation parameters.
  • Collect operating data (hours of operations) for the emergency generators, CHP units and boilers as required by the Environmental Quality Board Air Emission Permit. Perform operation test to the generators and fire pumps.
  • Maintain and update all records and documentations of the area, as required by the operating procedures and cGMP’s regulation.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing and Environmental Protection practices.
  • Help in the movement of the hazardous waste generated in different areas of the facility to the central storage area, when required.
  • Perform inspections and help in the organization of hazardous waste storage area, when required. Generate purchase requisitions (when necessary) for the required materials.
  • Assist maintenance personnel, when required by the Shift Facilitator.
  • Ensure quality on utilities provide to production and related areas.
  • Responsible for keeping and maintain his/her working area organized and cleaned.
  • Responsible for following all cGMP’s and safety rules 9use safety equipment while performing any task). Perform PTW’s for the required jobs.
  • Assist the generation/revision of area procedures as per manufacturer recommendations.
  • Generate maintenance notification as required by the utilities area.
  • Participate in the SHE inspections and follow up actions.
  • Responsible for the verification, as per section’s procedure, of the data collected by others Env/Util. Operators.
  • Oriented toward teamwork.
  • Committed with company policy of Safety, Health, and Environment and customer services philosophy.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor. Examples of the duties are:
    Preventive and/or corrective maintenance works of utilities equipment.
  • Proper documentation is essential on each of the works done, meeting cGMP needs.
Education / Experience
  • Associate degree, Technical College degree or Technical School Diploma in Industrial Mechanic, Electricity, Instrumentation or Refrigeration with 2-4 years of experience in Utilities.
  • Safety and GMP awareness.
Language
  • Basic knowledge in Spanish and English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Computer skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
