Sales Engineer
Job Summary
The Solutions Engineer provides internal and customer process analytics and works with the sales team on customer‑facing services and solutions. The Sales Engineer also assists with day‑to‑day pre‑construction deliverables and requests.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- The Sales Engineer works with the sales team to design low‑voltage solutions for IES clients.
- The Sales Engineer identifies current and future customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers and other stakeholders who can provide service insights. They provide product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests.
- The Sales Engineer determines improvements by analyzing cost‑benefit ratios of equipment, supplies, or service applications in the customer environment and proposes changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services.
- The Sales Engineer acts as a liaison between sales, project management, and operations when a project is turned over for installation.
- The Sales Engineer prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information from site visits and customer meetings for the pre‑construction and sales team.
- The Sales Engineer attends training and review sessions on technical requirements per the company’s training guidelines.
- The Sales Engineer attends and completes job turnover meetings as required to cover all details and expectations of the project as they were designed.
- The Sales Engineer handles other responsibilities as assigned.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Self‑motivated, positive, professional; leads others to create, develop and implement project process improvements.

- Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills; effective oral, written and presentation skills.
- High skill level interpreting blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
- Able to travel within branch or regional territory as needed.
- Prepared to learn company and customer project management systems.
- Manages multiple projects/estimates with a high level of organization.
- At least a high school diploma or GED equivalency; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- RCDD certification preferred.
- Experience in the structured cabling industry preferred.
- Experience in customer interface, such as liaison between the customer and the company.
- Minimum of five years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical or construction field.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project).
- Meets company minimum driving standards.
- Manages multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
