Job Description

Meade is seeking a skilled and experienced Fire Protection Engineer III to join our design team. The Fire Protection Engineer III will design, develop, and implement comprehensive fire protection systems for data centers. This role requires a highly experienced engineer with a deep understanding of fire protection engineering principles, code requirements, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing fire protection systems and a Professional Engineering (PE) license.

This position can be based in Austin, TX;
Phoenix, AZ;
Atlanta, GA;
Reno, NV;
Grand Rapids, MI; or Las Vegas, NV. Travel may be required to these locations.

Job Duties
  • Lead the design and engineering of fire protection systems, including fire detection, suppression, and alarm systems, tailored to the unique needs of data centers.
  • Develop detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for fire protection systems.
  • Ensure designs comply with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including NFPA, ICC, and local building codes.
  • Manage and oversee fire protection engineering projects from concept through completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, architects, and construction teams to integrate fire protection systems seamlessly into overall data center designs.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure proper installation and operation of fire protection systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.
  • Stay current with advancements in fire protection technology and industry trends.
  • Conduct risk assessments and fire safety evaluations for data center facilities.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, design documentation, and regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure all fire protection systems are documented accurately and meet all legal and safety requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 4+ years of professional design experience in fire protection system design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (will consider Engineer in Training certification).
  • Strong knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NFPA, ICC).
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Proven project management experience, with the ability to lead projects and teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
  • Proficiency in fire protection engineering software and tools.
  • Self‑motivated, comfortable with ambiguity and motivated to work as a team and lead others.
  • Top‑notch organization, attention to detail combined with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, Blue Beam, BIM, and Revit.
