A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) and the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy (SEMTE) seek applicants for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in the area of polymers, with applications in health, semiconductors, and other strategic usages. The School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).), one of the eight Fulton Schools, houses a vibrant and dynamic engineering research community in polymer science and engineering (learn more about the Biodesign Institute Center for Sustainable Macromolecular Materials and Manufacturing at ).
We seek applicants who enhance our abilities in these areas to solve grand challenges as part of a community of experts. Applications are welcome from all fields of polymer science and manufacturing. Particular areas of interest include, but are not limited to: semiconductor packaging, AI/ML-guided polymer design, advanced polymer manufacturing, polymer circularity and recycling/upcycling, and health (medical robotics, drug delivery, etc.).
Functions
- Develop course offerings and teach/engage undergraduate and graduate students in a hands-on and online educational setting involving team-based projects with industry applications
- Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students
- Develop an extramurally funded research program
- Publish research in peer-reviewed journals
- Contribute to development and delivery of programs within the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy
- Participate in university and professional service activities
- Earned doctorate in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline by the time of appointment
- Evidence of excellence in research, commensurate with the candidate’s rank
- Evidence of excellence in teaching, commensurate with the candidate’s rank
- Demonstrated commitment to a collaborative, transdisciplinary approach to research and teaching
- Publications in leading journals related to the applicant's field
- Evidence of successful proposal construction and submission to various funding agencies, as appropriate to the candidate's rank
- Demonstrated commitment to broadening participation in science and engineering
- Evidence of successful implementation of student-centric teaching and engagement
