Job Summary
Mercury Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and improve manufacturing processes and systems to ensure the efficient and cost-effective production of defense and aerospace products. In this role, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including design engineers, production personnel, and quality assurance, to optimize manufacturing operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Your technical expertise will play a critical role in the development and delivery of high quality, reliable, and technologically advanced products that meet stringent industry and customer standards.
Job Responsibilities- Design and develop manufacturing processes, procedures, and work instructions to meet product specifications and quality standards
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, productivity, and safety
- Collaborate with design engineers to ensure producibility and manufacturability of new products
Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to optimize production flow and reduce cycle times - Evaluate manufacturing equipment and technologies; recommend suitable options and oversee integration into production lines
- Ensure equipment meets industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements
- Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives
- Identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements to reduce costs, eliminate waste, and improve quality
- Collaborate with the quality team to establish and maintain quality control procedures, including inspection and testing methods
- Resolve production‑related quality issues and implement preventive measures to ensure compliance with specifications
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely availability of materials, components, and equipment
- Evaluate supplier capabilities and performance to support production schedules and quality requirements
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including process specifications, standard operating procedures, and engineering change orders
- Generate reports on key performance indicators, production metrics, and improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
- Identify potential hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks and promote a safe working environment
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field
- Typically requires a minimum of 2–4 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in the defense or aerospace industry
- Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies.
- Experience supporting mechanical assembly builds
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations such as AS9100, ITAR, IPC-610, and NADCAP
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for process development and optimization (solidworks).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to analyze and interpret complex data
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification
- Experience with Factory Logix
This position requires you to have or obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
