Position Summary:
Must have previous CNC Machining Experience. Manages and directs engineering department resources and activities, provides technical approval for design and development, develops corporate engineering policies, manages department assets, coordinates prototype runs, plans and coordinates test procedures, communicates with company personnel on projects, and interacts with customers and vendors.
- Direct department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
- Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
- Analyze technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.
- Confere with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
- Forecast operating costs of department and prepare budget requests.
- Advanced skills with Mastercam, Gibbs Cam, Espress or other CAM software, and CNC machine programming, setup, and operations.
- Ability to machine parts to specification of .1mm to .0005mm tolerances working from CAD files, mechanical drawings, and sketches.
- Advanced skills in workpiece fixturing and multi contour machining.
- Expertise calculating/estimating machine cycle times, determining cost‑effective operation sequences, machinability, and feasibility.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Maintenance of safety policies and regulations to ensure safe operation.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree with 8‑10 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 6‑8 years of experience.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs and Windows operating system.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
- Physical requirements:
extended screen time, long periods of sitting, potentially long hours.
- Supervises, coordinates, provides leadership to and reviews the work of assigned staff.
- Directly supervises individual contributors and/or entry level professionals.
- Estimates staffing needs and assigns work.
- Recommends candidates for employment and makes recommendations for termination.
- Conducts performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff.
- Responsible for the application of company policies.
