Role Overview
As a Project Engineer, II you will be part of our Engine Controls team driving New Product Development (NPD) Programs within Honeywell Aerospace. You will be integral in the design, integration and test of Engine Control, Air and Thermal Valves, and Air Turbine Start Systems leveraged across commercial and defense platforms. You will be involved in every aspect of the NPD product life cycle, from the planning and concept phases through equipment or system verification and early production support.
Responsibilities- Technical leadership for the Engine Controls Valves and Start System Product Portfolio
- Project management performance and execution
- Cost, schedule, and milestone development/management
- Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
- Risk (threats/opportunities) development and management
- Internal/External Customer technical communication and relationships
- Hardware supplier technical communication/interface
- Technical problem solving/Root cause analysis
- Technical documentation – Test plans, procedures, and reports
- Analysis of test data results
- Assess customer, industry, and regulatory requirements documentation
- Ability to read and understand detail design drawings
- Proposal development support of estimation of resources and schedule
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in engineering or a related discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, industrial, manufacturing, or mathematics.
- 2 years of Engineering experience working on system or product development in Aerospace, Automotive, or related technology industries.
- In lieu of 2 years of experience, a master’s degree in engineering
- New Product Development, Process, and/or Manufacturing experience in Aerospace
- Complex system development experience in Aerospace
- Strong management operating system that facilitates communication
- Leadership Skills — specifically decision making, driving results, and bias for action
- Ability to create specific action plans, prioritize time, and resources effectively
- Ability to convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audience, both internally and externally
- Able to convey technical ideas and concepts through team discussions, presentations, and in writing
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Product Development, Process, and/or Manufacturing experience in Aerospace, Automotive, or an adjacent industry
- Commitment Management
- Experience with Pneumatic-Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Systems, products and controls (Engine Valves, Start Systems, Actuation, Environmental Control Valves)
- Experience with systems requirement flow down
- Experience with DOORs or DOORS Next Gen
- Experience with ELM
