VDC Lead – Advanced Manufacturing Group
Join Jacobs as a Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Lead, overseeing the digital delivery processes for complex manufacturing projects across the United States. This role is site‑based with flexible home‑office options and requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for advancing digital construction practices.
Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will:
- Lead VDC/BIM and digital delivery activities, aligning technology with client and internal goals.
- Define digital delivery scope for project estimates, coordinate technical setup, and model deliverables.
- Develop and implement Design and Construction BIM Execution Plans for EPCM projects.
- Integrate VDC tasks such as 3D logistics, safety planning, 4D scheduling, 5D cost & quantity take‑offs.
- Manage the Common Data Environment (Autodesk Construction Cloud) across Docs, Build, and Coordination modules.
- Kick‑off, manage, and track clash detection progress; lead conflict resolution meetings.
- Serve as BIM Subject Matter Expert for design and construction stages and coordinate laser scan data integration.
- Oversee model redlines, as‑built processes, construction verification, and mobile device training for field staff.
- Lead reality capture and progress reporting, including 360 photos, laser scans, and drone data.
- Act as a technology lead, providing on‑site troubleshooting and support for software and mobile applications.
- Collaborate with stakeholders during proposals, estimates, client meetings, and contractor coordination.
- Recruit, manage, and mentor VDC team members, fostering technical growth and best practices.
- Coordinate day‑to‑day on‑site VDC activities with field operations to ensure seamless integration.
- At least 7 years of VDC/BIM experience within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of BIM technologies and their application in manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, Revizto, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Experience with laser scanning and point cloud data management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proven track record of on‑site VDC leadership.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment, both on site and virtually.
- Experience developing and implementing BIM execution plans.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and MEP systems.
- Willingness to work on site at a project close to Baton Rouge, LA.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Salary range: $ – $ per year, adjusted for skills, experience, and location.
