Trainual is looking for a Full Stack AI Product Designer—otherwise known as a “Product Design Engineer”. A designer‑first role that pairs exceptional product design craft with a strong understanding of modern AI workflows and frontend development. You’ll design high‑quality user experiences, contribute to product squads, and help evolve how design and engineering work together in an AI‑augmented development environment. While design excellence is at the core, you’ll also bring enough frontend and technical fluency to help bridge the gap between design and engineering.
So…who are you?
You’re a designer at heart with exceptional UX and visual craft who is energized by the intersection of design, engineering, and AI. You love designing intuitive experiences, but you’re also curious about how things are built and how emerging tools can make teams faster and more creative. You thrive working inside product squads while also helping elevate the broader design team.
Someone who would make a great fit for this role would:
- Care deeply about user‑centered design, clarity, and visual polish.
- Have an eye for visual design at a high bar and love to refine craft.
- Enjoy experimenting with AI tools and workflows that accelerate design and product development.
- Want to help ensure design systems and product interfaces are ready for AI‑assisted and agentic development environments.
- Have strong product design instincts and systems thinking.
- Be comfortable collaborating closely with engineers and understanding how interfaces translate to code.
- Love teaching and working with other designers, sharing knowledge and supporting the team.
- Own product design problems from discovery through shipped execution.
- Translate research, insights, and experiments into intuitive, polished experiences.
- Collaborate closely with PMs and engineers to deliver thoughtful product solutions.
- Ensure design intent and user experience quality are preserved through implementation.
- Contribute to and evolve our design system for consistency and scalability.
- Partner with engineers to ensure components translate cleanly from design to code.
- Help designers better understand the technical realities of the product.
- Ensure our design system works effectively in modern AI‑assisted development environments.
- Help the team experiment with and adopt modern AI‑powered workflows, such as Claude, GPTs, Figma AI tools, and other emerging platforms to accelerate exploration and prototyping.
- Expand how the team ideates, prototypes, and tests product ideas.
- Improve documentation, communication, and design‑to‑development handoffs through AI.
- Provide thoughtful feedback in critiques and async reviews.
- Collaborate with designers across squads to strengthen design craft.
- Advocate for clarity, simplicity, and strong UX across the product.
- Help maintain a high bar for visual design and interaction quality.
- 5+ years designing SaaS products.
- Exceptional UX and UI craft—care about details and visual polish.
- Strong experience with Figma and design systems.
- Comfort working closely with engineers and understanding how design translates to frontend implementation.
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS or modern frontend frameworks (you don’t need to be an engineer, but you understand how interfaces are built).
- Experience working in cross‑functional product squads.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Extremely comfortable and confident using AI tools in your design workflow.
- Experience with Windsurf, Claude Code, Cursor a plus.
You’ll report to our VP of Product Design, Liz Dube, and partner closely with our product designers, engineers, and product managers. Our design team is incredibly talented and curious, collaborative, high‑trust, and serious about craft—while still leaving room for creative exploration and experimentation. We care deeply about quality, clarity, and continuous growth. They also love having fun.
