Job Role Summary

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will be accountable for assisting the Project Managers with the day‑to‑day oversight of the construction project from bid to completion, by providing the knowledge, skills and experience working with subcontractors. One of the Assistant Project Manager’s top priorities is helping to ensure all contract requirements and paperwork are in order. This is a safety sensitive position.

DUTIES

AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Assist with reviewing pricing, bids and confirm accuracy of material, equipment, and production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure completeness and validity.
  • Assist with preparing bids for distribution to market, including drawings, specifications, test reports, and other exhibits that may be required.
  • Assist with qualifying subcontractors prior to award.
  • Assist with reviewing bids from subcontractors for conformity to contract requirements and recommend acceptable bids.
  • Assist with negotiating contract scope and value with bidders.
  • Assist with recommended awards and administer subcontracts.
  • Assist with processing subcontractor change orders.
  • Assist with requests or approved amendments to or extensions of contracts.
  • Assist with the advised scheduling of contractual rights and obligations.
  • Assist with compiling data for preparing estimates.
  • Assist with reviewing all correspondence concerning subcontractors and respond as necessary.
  • Assist with establishing and maintaining contact with subcontractors to ensure the smooth working of the contract awarding process.
  • Assist with communication to accounting on subcontractor payments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 1–2 years of project management experience with commercial construction projects preferred.
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Strong organization, time‑management, verbal and written communication skills.
