Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field including two (2) years managerial experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Job Description

Salary Range: $80,000 - $87,000 per year; depending on experience

With limited guidance, the Manager, Strategic Sourcing role independently leads and manages sourcing strategies across ASU’s departments and partners. In this senior role, you will leverage data-driven insights, collaborate with multiple stakeholders, and drive strategic sourcing decisions to support long-term operational efficiency, drive value and cost savings, and sustainability goals. You will lead complex sourcing projects, mentor analysts, and work with cross-functional teams to align supply chain strategies with department needs and objectives.

  • Managers the development and execution of multi-year sourcing strategies based on business intelligence
  • Manages and guides direct reports on procurement process, sourcing process and supplier management
  • Conducts analytics across spend, market, and supplier analyses to identify sourcing opportunities
  • Facilitates stakeholder engagement meetings and decision-making processes
  • Develops collaborative relationships, influences and works with ASU departments and other functions to develop sourcing strategies and manage supplier performance
  • Shares knowledge and provides guidance to peers and team members
  • Develops and presents dashboards and reports highlighting procurement KPIs, supplier scorecards, savings initiatives, and contract utilization
  • Negotiates contracts in collaboration with legal and finance to minimize risks and protect ASU’s interests
  • Identifies and implements continuous improvement initiatives to streamline procurement operations and enhance stakeholder experience
  • Leverages data to anticipate and mitigate risk
  • Demonstrates curiosity and seeks ways to streamline, automate, and simplify processes
  • Performs other duties as required
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Strong knowledge of supply chain, strategic sourcing, and procurement practices, including scope development, supplier negotiations, contract development, risk mitigation, and cost optimization strategies. Demonstrated expertise in developing sourcing strategies, leading cross-functional initiatives, and applying data and financial analysis to drive decision-making. Solid understanding of procurement systems, supply chain technologies, and emerging tools such as automation and AI. Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to coach and develop team members while managing competing priorities and stakeholder expectations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels, both internally and externally. Strong business acumen and a collaborative mindset to foster effective working relationships across departments. Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and execute in dynamic, evolving environments. High motivation to continuously improve processes and leverage technology to enhance efficiency and sourcing performance.

Desired Qualifications

Experience in strategic sourcing, procurement operations, and managing supply chain transformation initiatives. Strong understanding of public procurement, supply chain systems, and data-driven process improvements. Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and drive performance through metrics and continuous improvement. Experience with forecasting, demand planning tools, and supplier performance frameworks.
