Manager in Training Part - Time

Summary

The Manager in Training is responsible for assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. This role requires knowledge of each product area or department, the ability to determine methods to accomplish store goals, and a commitment to uphold policies, procedures and standards listed in the visual manual. The Manager in Training promotes sales, serves as an ambassador of Hibbett, and delivers outstanding customer service.

In the absence of the Store Manager, the Manager in Training assumes supervisory control and is trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.

• Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling Hibbett’s assets.
• Consult on action plans to accomplish departmental and overall store responsibilities (selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, scheduling).
• Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
• Guide employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
• Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
• Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
• Communicate inventory movement and customer trends to the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
• Maintain quality customer service.
• Perform general administrative duties and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
• Provide exceptional customer service per the customer service manual, assisting customers entering the store and during peak periods.
• Promote and sell Hibbett’s services and merchandise.
• Apply all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and company memos.
• Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal controls are accurate and effective and reporting potential fraud risks to management or appropriate officials.

• Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence; interview, train, plan, assign, and direct work; resolve problems in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

• Experience in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
• 1–3 years of customer service experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to assist in managing a team and drive overall goals and profits.
• Self‑starter who takes initiative on important tasks without being asked.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks accurately.
• Team‑player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
