The Nursing Supervisor will supervise Critical Care units to include ICU and/or PCU units as assigned. The role is responsible for assisting with the planning and yearly needs assessment for the unit’s budget. Under the supervision of the Director, the Supervisor will monitor patient‑care activities within budget, daily census and staff usage, and use of premium labor. The Nursing Supervisor also identifies cost‑reduction opportunities on a regular basis and recommends implementation when necessary.
The Supervisor will oversee the daily charging process and ensure staff education and participation in the appropriate assignment of patient charges as applicable. In addition, the candidate will give feedback, within the scope of the supervisor position, and make suggestions to staff regarding behaviors that are detrimental to the achievement of patient care goals and objectives, the achievement of unit/department/organizational goals and objectives while keeping the manager informed of issues at all times.
Job Duties
The Nursing Supervisor effectively delegates shift tasks and assignments to appropriate health‑care team members and maintains a positive relationship with the medical staff, identifies opportunities to improve service relations, and assists the Director/Manager as needed with department operational responsibilities, including accurate and timely input of employee hours and QA data collection.
Qualifications- Two (2) years of recent department‑specific experience required
- Charge nurse supervisory experience in the department preferred
- Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing Program
- BSN preferred
- Registered Nurse with current California RN license
- Current BLS and ACLS (AHA) certification
- Basic EKG/tele‑interpretation required or completing a Basic EKG class within six months of employment
- CPI certification within the first 90 days of hire
- NIHSS required within 3 months of hire
