The float pool RN supplements unit‑based staffing as it relates to facility staffing needs for critical care. The RN acts as a team member for multiple units while being assigned to one unit per shift. The Float RN does not have a physical home unit and instead reports to the house supervisor and is assigned to a unit.
EssentialJob Duties
Performs initial assessment and documents appropriately for the level of care appropriate to the patient’s clinical presentation/diagnosis, care setting, age development level, and cultural and religious orientation in a timely manner. Performs ICU/PCU/ED standard level of care, completely and accurately including, but not limited to, physical (assessment for pain, skin breakdown, risk for falls), psychological (cognitive and communicative skills or development), social status and other patient needs.
Qualifications- Exhibits flexibility by rotating within the ICU/PCU/ED units as competent
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in the English language
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area (BSP), circumference and volume
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Minimum of Two (2) years’ ICU experience required
- Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse program
- BSN preferred
- Registered Nurse with current California RN license
- Current BLS, ACLS & PALs certifications (AHA) required
- NIHSS required within 3 months of hire
